Tanasescu said the lists with the party’s EP candidates would be submitted to the Central Electoral Bureau Wednesday, around 13:00.

Last Friday, PRM leader Corneliu Vadim Tudor offered to place Becali second on the party’s list for EP elections and stressed his gesture must not be linked to a potential alliance between PRM and the New Generation Party (PNG) run by Becali.

The Bucharest court Tuesday decided to keep Becali in custody, along four other people, after it previously ruled to place them under arrest on kidnapping charges.

Becali, chairman and financer of Steaua Bucharest football club, was arrested for 29 days on April 3, along four of his bodyguards for kidnapping three alleged car thieves. Becali was placed into custody along Catalin Zmarandescu, Stefan Dediu, Nicolae Dumitrascu and Dumitru Beciu.
