Two New Swine Flu Cases In Romania, Total Infections At 59

Romanian authorities confirmed two new infections with the A/H1N1 flu virus on Friday, bringing the total number of cases to 59, the Health Ministry said in a statement.

The two patients, a 20-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, contracted the virus while in the U.S. and Greece, respectively.

Both patients are hospitalized and their health condition is good, the ministry said.

Romanian health authorities decided to maintain the existing measures meant to delay and limit the spreading of the new strain of the A/H1N1 flu virus.

The Health Ministry’s coordination committee also decided to ensure hospitalization for all patients tested positive for the flu virus and to keep the medical teams deployed at airports and border checkpoints.

For the following period, all new press statements regarding the development of swine flu cases in Romania will be issued every other Monday, the ministry said.

The next release is due Monday, July 27.
