Two Romanian Troops Injured In Afghanistan During Insurgent Attack

Two Romanian troops were injured Saturday night during an insurgent attack on the Romanian military base in Qalat, Afghanistan, the Romanian Ministry of Defense said Sunday, adding the state of the two is good, according to preliminary medical data.

The two officers, sergeant Florin Emil Cojocaru and corporal Gheorghita Paval, were injured in the face area during an insurgent attack with rockets and infantry arms on the Romanian military base in Qalat, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry added the two injured received medical attention inside the military base and were flown to Kandahar for further tests and treatment.

Romania currently has about 1,050 troops in Afghanistan.
