Amendments Overlapping Education Pact To Be Introduced In Education Law - Romanian Pres

Romanian President Traian Basescu on Friday said all amendments overlapping the principles signed by the political parties, the teachers’ organizations and the civil society in the Pact for Education will be introduced in the law on education.

“I assure you the amendments that will overlap the principles signed by all political parties, teachers' organizations and the civil society in the Pact for Education will be taken over and introduced in the law,” Basescu told the participants to the Congress of the Elementary Teachers Association.

He said amendments to the draft law are welcome as long as they comply with the law.

Basescu added he supports a profound reform in the Romanian education system and said the three-year work of the Miclea Committee represents “what could be done best at present, considering the country’s situation”.

The participants to the Congress of the General Association of Elementary Teachers in Romania will analyze the draft code of education and bring amendments to it. At the end of the congress, which lasts for three days, a resolution including the teachers’ propositions will be concluded.
