EC Draft Justice Report Invites Romania To Publicly Debate Procedure Codes And Adopt Them

The European Commission invites Romania to carry out a thorough assessment of the impact of the Criminal and Civil Codes and their respective procedure codes on the judicial system and the organization of courts and prosecutors’ offices and to quantify the budgetary means needed to implement them.

The EC’s draft report on the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification also invites Romania to carry out a meaningful public consultation on the civil procedure and criminal procedure codes and implement them as soon as possible.

The report also requires that Romania facilitates the swift entry into force of the four codes through the adoption of an implementing law that would render the legislative framework coherent.
