Europe's Socialist Party Has No Say In Romania’s Govt - PM

"The Government received no letter whatsoever," said Boc in response to the statement made by Romanian MEP Victor Bostinaru who told MEDIAFAX Friday that European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso officially asked Romanian President Traian Basescu to propose another three people for an EC portfolio.


Boc said the Government and the Presidency will agree on the country's proposal for European Commissioner, proposal that will be soon sent to Barroso.


The Party of European Socialists (PES) asked Romania's President Traian Basescu to leave aside any political bias and act in the best interest of the country and of Europe by proposing a top social democrat for a European Commission portfolio.

The Party of the European Socialists asked Basescu to act in the best interest of the country and of Europe by proposing for an EC portfolio a top social democrat, with a good reputation in Europe, to be accepted without reserve by the European Parliament, the Party of the European Socialists said in a press release Saturday.

The Party of the European Socialists said the European Commission needs the support of the European socialists and democrats to have their projects approved by the European Parliament, adding Romania must propose a social democrat for an EC portfolio.
