Georgia’s Integrity, Independence Essential To Romania – PM

 

"Georgia’s integrity and independence are essential to Romania, and this topic will be part of the discussions we shall hold in the European Council in Brussels, on Monday,” Tariceanu said.

He said establishing security and stability around the Black Sea is a priority to Romania and its European partners.

“Frozen conflicts in the region are a top issue, which should benefit from a common stance of European countries to find solutions and solve these conflicts,” Tariceanu added.

Lugar said he appreciates the role of Romania with respect to regional security and made reference to the importance of the territorial integrity of nations.

Tariceanu will participate at the Extraordinary European Council meeting on the Georgian conflict, to take place in Brussels on September 1.

The Republican senator of Indiana, Richard G. Lugar, is on a two-week tour in nine countries, on a mission focusing on NATO energy security, on the backdrop of the Russian aggression in Georgia, according to the website of the American Congress.  

Lugar plans to meet officials from France, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Germany, and officials from the NATO headquarters in Brussels.
