"Four Romanians out of ten said their income was negatively influenced by the crisis in March 2009. The largest impact was registered at the extra-salary gains, namely bonuses, fees, where 21% of the population saw a decrease. The active population is obviously more exposed to the unfavorable consequences upon income and the percentage of people affected increased to 50% among those employed or looking for a job," according to GfK survey, citing the results of GfK Omnibus’ monthly survey.

The people in the capital city Bucharest are less affected by the crisis, where only 18% said their income was influenced by the crisis.

Freelancers, small enterprises and independent business owners accounted for the most difficult situations, with more than a half of them posting lower income and two third of them accounting for a poorer financial status.

Besides the decrease of extra-salary gains, 9% of Romanians received their salaries late or had them decreased.
