Rejected Justice Min Candidate Sues President Next Week

Nicolai said Basescu’s decision against her represents a "form of totalitarianism", and his gesture could create a dangerous precedent.

"I will sue him because, from my point of view, what he did qualifies as a totalitarian act. Nobody has the right to label anybody. If Traian Basescu labeled me, tomorrow anyone can come and refuse somebody’s access to a public position telling them they are undeserving, immoral and incompetent," Nicolai said.

She added that considering everything he has done in the past two months, Basescu has shown” he thinks he is above the law”.

"He (Traian Basescu – e.n.) is a man who has no respect for anything, not even for himself, and my battle with Traian Basescu will continue," Nicolai added.

Nicolai told MEDIAFAX Friday she would sue the president who, in his statements motivating his refusal to appoint her justice minister, broke her constitutional right to accede to a public position.
