Nica also said, at the presentation of the 2008 activity report of the National General Anticorruption Department (DNA), that such cases trigger the worst possible consequences.

Nica highlighted he is pleased with the activity of the anticorruption prosecutors and mainly referred to the complex case of fraudulent driving licenses.

In June 2008, prosecutors requested arrest warrants for 20 people involved in the wide corruption scandal that involved employees from the Arges Driving License and Registrations Service, including the service chief, Codrut Vlasceanu.

The defendants were organized in a pyramid crime group, handling large amounts of money. Sources said the anticorruption prosecutors had long monitored the culprits before arresting them.
