Romania Ranks Second Of 69 In New Retail Entries Chart - CBRE

The United Arab Emirates were the most popular destination for retailers, with 21 launches, while Romania and Kuwait are also popular destinations, bringing in nine new retailers each, according to the report "How Global is the Business of Retail?"

In 2008, Romania ranked seventh among 67 countries. Last year, Romania outranked countries such as Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland.

In addition, the CB Richard Ellis survey ranks Bucharest 18th among 150 cities by the number of newly entered retailers on the local market last year.

With respect for the presence of international retail brands, Romania ranks 31, up two positions from 2008, hosting 28% of all companies top retail companies. Bucharest hosts 25% of the retailers, climbing to the 76th position among 150 markets analyzed.

The top position in the countries chart is held by UK, with 58% of top international retailers, the UAE (54%) and the USA (51%).

The cities chart is topped by London (56%), followed by Dubai - 55% and Paris - 46%.

The survey took into consideration 294 top international retailers in 69 countries.
