Romania’s new Government revised downwards in the final form of the governing agenda the hike of gross average wage earnings and of the gross average wage by minus 40 lei (EUR1=RON3.9497), and sees a falling tendency for the period 2010-2012 compared to the initial estimations.

The intermediate form of the governing agenda indicated for next year a 10% increase of the gross average wage earnings, to RON1,870 per month from RON1,700 in 2008, and a hike of over 60% by 2010, to a monthly level of RON2,722.

The final form of the document sees gross average wage earnings at RON1,830 for next year and at RON2,635 in 2012.

The governing agenda takes into consideration now a gradual advance of monthly gross wage earnings to RON2,070 in 2010, compared to RON2,122 initially estimated, and to RON2,340 in 2011, from RON2,410 initially estimated.

The increase of gross average wages was also revised downwards, seen at RON1,702 for next year compared to RON1,740 initially estimated, and at RON2,450 in 2012, from the initial RON2,532.

The document warns that the estimated value of the macro-economic indicators is highly relative due to the existent uncertainties on the backdrop of the financial and economic crisis.

Gross average wage earnings include the gross wage, the bonuses and other earnings an employee obtains per month.

The draft budget for 2009 approved by the current Government in October points to a level of total cash earnings of RON1,865, 10% higher than in 2008.
