Romania’s "Police, adjective” Gets Jury’s Special Mention At Ljubljana Film Festival

"Police, adjective" by Romanian director Corneliu Porumboiu was awarded Sunday evening the jury’s special mention at the 20th edition of the Film Festival in Ljubljana (Slovenia), according to the festival’s website.

Romania’s "Police, adjective” Gets Jury’s Special Mention At Ljubljana Film Festival

The jury said the film was awarded a special mention "for its esthetics, story and brilliant performance, for its social engagement and philosophical perception".

The Film Festival in Ljubljana unfolded between November 11 and November 12.

"Police, adjective" is the second feature film written, produced and directed by Porumboiu, after his 2006 success "12:08 East of Bucharest".

Porumboiu's second film is Romania's Oscar proposal for best foreign language film. The film got the FIPRESCI award and the jury's prize in this year's Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. The film got the trophy of the Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Age D'Or award at the International Film Festival in Belgium.

"Police, adjective" was also awarded best fiction feature at the Independent Film Festival l'Alternativa held in Barcelona between November 13 and November 21.
