Berceanu said the ministry also planned to construct 90 kilometers of highway in 2009, but only half of the plan has been carried out so far, adding that 42 kilometers of highway will be constructed by the end of the year.

Berceanu highlighted the Transport Ministry wants to finish the construction of 90 kilometers of highway in 2010, but this depends on the money it receives from the budget, adding the ministry asked for 3.5% of the GDP for next year, compared to 1.4% it benefited from in 2009.

"The ministry asked for 3.5% of the GDP. It might not get 3.5%, but we will be happy if we get at least 3.3% (…)" said Berceanu.

The Romanian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure wants a budget of 19 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2776) in 2010, compared to RON11 billion in 2009, Transport Minister Radu Berceanu said Friday.
