Berceanu recanted a statement made earlier Thursday, saying that only the four employees operating the outbound lane came into contact with the AC/DC tour caravan. According to Berceanu, only these four staff members had the opportunity to demand EUR50 for each of the 28-29 vehicles carrying AC/DC's concert equipment.

According to Berceanu and DRDP Timisoara manager Ioan Malita, the four will be sacked by July 1. Berceanu said layoff procedures must be closely followed, as, during the past years, several employees successfully challenged their dismissal in court. Malita said his department has enforced over 80 disciplinary sanctions since 2007.

Earlier Thursday, Berceanu had told a press conference that all ten employees of local road department DRDP in Timisoara, western Romania on duty at Nadlac on the night of the incident would be sacked.

Romania's public roads company CNADNR general manager Dorina Tiron told newspaper Gandul in early June that, according to a complaint filed by AC/DC's technical staff, road department employees on duty at the Nadlac border point, demanded EUR50 for each of AC/DC's 28-29 cars, on the grounds that concert staff had not paid a tax to use the country's national roads during their stay in Romania. No receipt was issued for the money.

Fraud investigation police in Arad, western Romania, opened an investigation into the case of the ten Romanian road department employees accused of bribe taking, and the file was sent to prosecutors.

Australian hard rock band AC/DC held a concert in Bucharest on May 16, before an audience of 60,000.
