Romanian Actor Gheorghe Dinica Closely Monitored For Severe Lung, Kidney Infection

The Floreasca Hospital issued a press release Sunday saying that Dinica was first faced with an infection in his left lung, which subsequently affected his right lung and kidneys and led to other complications.

Doctors stressed, however, that Dinica's condition is stable and he was subject to complex medical treatment and care.

Dinica was admitted to the Floreasca Hospital last Thursday due to a respiratory infection, which led to complications.

Dinica, one of the most famous Romanian actors, made his debut as an actor with the film "The Stranger" in 1963 and has starred in over 60 films since then, among which, "The Afternoon of a Torturer," "Filantropica," "Regina" (TV Series), "Inima de tigan" (TV Series). Dinica also performed for some of the most famous Romanian theaters and acted in "Tache, Ianke and Cadar," "The Name of the Rose," "Waiting for Godot," and many other plays.

Dinica also released several folk music albums alongside the late actor Stefan Iordache and folk singer Nelu Ploiesteanu.

Since 2002, Dinica has been honorary member of the society of I.L.Caragiale National Theater. Dinica, also an honorary citizen of the city of Bucharest, was awarded the "Faithful Service" Order in the rank of Grand Officer.
