This program includes the company’s management and will last around three months, with each employee taking turns to go on technical unemployment for ten days, Kochuparampil told MEDIAFAX Sunday.

The measure could be stopped only if the market recovers, which is unlikely in the next period.

“Right now we cannot see any significant change in the market. We must be prepared for things to get better on the long term. However, we have not taken a decision as to what to do after the technical unemployment. We are open-minded and analyzing the situation day after day, month after month, and only if things get worse will we consider new measures,” Kochuparampil said.

ArcelorMittal, the world’s largest steel producer, is present on the Romanian market through the steel mills ArcelorMittal Galaţi, ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Iaşi, ArcelorMittal Tubular Products Roman and ArcelorMittal Hunedoara, port operator operatorul portuar Romportmet Galaţi and the local branch of ArcelorMittal Construction.
