Romanian Carmaker Dacia Sales Up 15.3% In First 11 Mo Of ‘07

Sales of Romanian car maker Dacia, on a world level, hiked in the first 11 months of the year by 15.3%, to 207,890 cars, from 180,271 units sold in the same period of the previous year, while the number of cars sold by Dacia majority shareholder Renault Group, climbed by 1.3%, to 2.279 million.

The number of cars sold by Dacia climbed by 16.4%, to 196,918 units, while sales for the LCV models dropped by 0.9%, to 10,972 units, according to a press release issued by Renault.

In November, Dacia total sales hiked by 42%, to 22,400 cars, from 15,773 units in the similar period of the previous year.

The number of cars sold by Dacia climbed by 44.9% in the previous month, to 21,353 units, while LCV sales climbed by 1.43%, to 1,047 units.

On the European market, including in France, Dacia sales registered a 107.2% hike in November, due to the success of the sedan and MCV models of the Logan.

The Dacia Logan was also successful in Brazil and in Argentina, after the two models were launched on the market, in July, sales reaching over 12,000 units.

The market share held by Renault in Romania, in November, was 38.4%, while in France it reached 24.9%, 15.2% in Turkey, and 10.6% in Spain and the Canary Islands.

On a group level, sales registered a 1.3% climb in the first 11 months of the year, to 2.279 million cars, while the advance registered in November was 15.5%, to 214,028 units.

The hike in group sales was aided by the brands Renault, with a 14.32% increase, and Dacia, with 42%, while Renault Samsung Motors registered a 10.1% drop.

In the first 11 months, group sales dropped by 5% in Europe, including France, but they climbed in the other regions by percentages ranging between 8.6% in Asia-Africa and 32.7% in the Americas.
