“The two special Parliament commissions working on the Criminal Code and the Civil Code are in different development stages. We have put forward the idea that, since discussions on the Criminal Code are much nearer to completion, we can submit it to Parliament sooner,” Social Democrat Party vice-president Gheorghe Nichita said Monday.
He stated that the coalition leaders have decided that the presidents of the two special commissions should assess each code’s state and, if one of them is ready, bring it into Parliament.
“We are also talking about harmonizing, so that certain features which have come out of public discussion so far can be avoided,” Nichita said.
The Government might take responsibility in Parliament for the new codes on May 15. The four codes are currently being discussed by two special Parliament commissions.
