"Romania’s Environment Ministry proposed further exemptions from car tax payment, which target mobile machinery whose engines comply with chemical pollution norms and which generally travel on public roads only from and toward the workplace, and vehicles owned by people with severe disabilities, regardless of whether or not they own driving licenses," the ministry said in a press release Wednesday.
The ministry also wants to bring amendments to the law regulating the Environment Fund, by "expanding programs and projects" financed from the Fund.
The Fund’s administration might also finance the closure of substandard landfills, for the benefit of local authorities "unable to meet the commitments undertaken under the accession treaty to the European Union."
