The financing memorandum was approved by the European Investments Bank and needs to be co-signed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Orban said that the section could be financed form the state budget or through a public-private partnership in case the ministry fails to find a company willing to invest in the project.

The section is to have a length of 9.05 kilometers and 13 stations.

The minister also said that works on sector 1 Mai-Laromed ( also in capital city Bucharest) are to be finished by next year when works on section Piata Bazilescu-Laromed will start.
