Bazac said in a press conference the Italian system entails that police officers check to see if the people who take medical leaves off work are in fact at home, ill.

Bazac said the people who are on medical leave are either in hospital - and then they are registered in the unit's records - or they are at home under treatment, and the police will check this matter.

Bazac declined to answer what happens if the respective people won't open the door to the police officer that was sent to check if they are at home.

The minister admitted that the police officers do not have money to catch felons, but said this is the situation now, whereas he is talkling about a general principle.

He also said he plans to have this system introduced as of January 1, 2010.
