Romanian Mandatory Car Insurance Cheaper Next Yr Compared To ‘10

Romanian mandatory civil liability car insurance RCA will be cheaper in 2011 in most cases, compared to this year, according to the tariffs reported by seven insurers.

Insurance regulator CSA representative Mona Cucu said in a press release Thursday that insurers plan to offer discounts based on new criteria, alongside older ones like the bonus-malus criteria.

According to the press release, the latest three insurers to have notified CSA of their 2011 fees reduced their RCA premiums by as much as 14%, for drivers aged between 30 and 50, owning cars with engines between 1,200 cc and 1,600 cc.

Earlier, the regulator said RCA insurance prices set by four insurers will be between 5% lower and 15% higher compared to 2010, for the same category of drivers.

CSA regulations regarding the bonus-malus system compel insurers to reduce premiums for drivers who made no damage claims in the previous year, or raise premiums for those who had accidents.
