"The prime minister has not yet made a decision on notifying the Constitutional Court regarding the Norica Nicolai situation. Such a decision will be made after talks with the leaders of the National Liberal ," liberal sources told MEDIAFAX.

Liberal sources stated Monday that the Executive intends to notify the Constitutional Court in the Nicolai situation, but a final decision has yet to be made, as the official document had not yet been sent to the Court.

Tariceanu held a talk with Nicolai, Monday, regarding the arguments brought by the head of state regarding her professional past, official sources told MEDIAFAX.

Romanian president Traian Basescu stated Monday that he would never appoint Nicolai a justice minister, adding, however, that if the nomination is passed through Parliament, and the Legislative agrees, he will be forced to sign the appointment decree.

Prior to this statement, Basescu issued a press release stating that Nicolai does not meet the legal criteria for the position of justice minister, pointing to deeds in her activity as prosecutor, which he analyzed in her professional record.

Nicolai announced Friday evening that she would not give up on her nomination for the position of justice minister and said Basescu’s conduct is undignified for a man and abusive for a head of state.
