The Constitutional Court recently upheld the amendments to Law 47/1992, whereby trials in Romania will no longer be suspended by default when exceptions of unconstitutionality are raised.
On August 24, the Romanian Senate adopted with 69 to 41 votes and one abstention the draft act amending Law no. 47/1992.
The draft act, which eliminates the suspension by default of trials when exceptions of unconstitutionality are raised, had been tacitly approved by the Chamber of Deputies.
Justice Minister Catalin Predoiu said at the time, during debates on the bill, that the adoption of the draft normative act will significantly speed up trials.
