National Administration Union Federation (FNSA) leader Romel Neagu said the meeting was "informal" and state secretary Valentin Mocanu was the only ministry official in attendance.

"We will continue our protest action," Neagu said, "a rally in Victoriei Plaza on April 29 and an all-out strike on May 5. We had the same discussion and our demands have not been met."

Public Servants' National Union (SNFP) leader Sebastian Oprescu said the meeting achieved nothing and the union will announce the date of its strike on Monday.

"Until they find solutions regarding the collective labor contracts, final court rulings and there is justice, our colleagues in the country will be on full-blown strike," Oprescu said. "I think the Government's intention is to stall, not find solutions," he added.

The dissatisfaction was echoed by Razvan Bordeanu, vice-president of Sed Lex, and Gabriel Chifu, secretary general of Publisind, who said their unions will also begin protest action.

The meeting at the Labor Ministry came after the Government promised to discuss the system's problems with the leaders of all public administration unions. On April 15, around 200 Romanian public servants picketed the Government headquarters, demanding their right to collective bargaining and the collective labor contract be observed.
