According to national coal company CNH officials, "a dynamic phenomenon" occurred Tuesday at noon in the eastern section of the Uricani mine. The miners working in the opposite part of the shaft were taken outside and the management decided that no employees were to descend, at least Tuesday.

So far, the cause of the incident is unknown.

Rescue specialists from Salvamint Petrosani will enter the mine on Wednesday, most likely, to analyze the situation, the officials said.

Almost 800 people work at Uricani. This is one of the mines that will be closed by 2018.

In February 2011, two explosions at Uricani killed five people. The mine was shut down for around a month.
