Union leader Constantin Tudor said the nine miners refuse to put an end to the protest until one of the mine managers agrees to talk to them.

However, the mine’s manager Alexandru Mihart said the protest is illegal and refuses to go down in the mine. Nonetheless he showed concern for the health of the protesters stating that work protection laws stipulate miners cannot stay underground for more than 16 hours.

The nine miners have been protesting for 60 straight hours because the mine management failed to observe the protocol signed on March 11. The protocol granted miners a headquarters to develop their activity and transferring Solidaritatea 92 union head Constantin Tudor from Mining Exploitation Mehedinti to Zegujani mine.

Two ambulances are waiting for the nine protesters near the mine entrance.
