Thievery Corporation, Back In Romania For B’estfest

The band, who raised the roof of Bucharest’s Sala Palatului last October, will share the stage with The Killers and Patrice. Excited by their previous concert’s reception, the band has upheld their pledge to return to Bucharest in 2009, with a show that promises to be at least as electrifying as their last.

 

Playing abstract, instrumental electronic music, with a sound somewhere between trip-hop and acid jazz, Thievery Corporation (made up of Rob Garza and Eric Hilton) made a name for themselves quickly, drawing interest not only due to their original style and impressive live shows, but also due to their politically and socially charged lyrics.

 

Throughout their carrier, Thievery Corporation has released five studio albums, five compilations, 16 singles, and their tracks have been featured on the soundtrack of films such as “Garden State” and “Vanilla Sky”. Besides their music, Rob and Eric are also active in social campaigns destined at raising awareness on the danger of world hunger. They are members of the World Food Program organization, alongside actress Drew Barrymore, Brazilian football player Kaka, athlete Paul Tergat and former US vice-president George McGovern.

 

After taking part in festivals such as Coachella, Werchter and Good Vibrations, Thievery Corporation returns to the Romanian audience on B’estfest’s “Zero Day”.

 

So far, the confirmations for B’estfest are Ayo, Moby and Motorhead (July 2), Klaxons, Orbital, Franz Ferdinand and The Faint (July 3), The Charlatans and The Ting Tings (July 4) and Manowar and Holyhell, at Aftershock (July 5).
