Thousands On Waiting List For New Romanian Dacia Duster SUV

There is a waiting list of several thousand customers to buy Romanian carmaker Dacia’s new model, the Duster, commercial director Fabrice Cambolive said Tuesday, adding that the car will be available through the national clunkers program.

Cambolive said companies make up half the Duster's target audience. He added that he cannot make an estimation of the model's sales this year, but said he expects Duster to be successful, due to the rising demand of 4x4 cars.

The Dacia official said thousands of customers have signed up to a waiting list to buy the newly launched SUV.

Cambolive pointed out that the Duster model will be available through the national clunkers program.

According to company officials, Romania's President Traian Basescu will be the first to acquire the Duster, in early April.

Dacia's new crossover SUV can be bought in Romania for EUR10,500 to EUR15,600 (including VAT).

The Duster will be exhibited on March 2 at the auto show in Geneva, Switzerland.
