Three Turkish Cos Interested In Building Private Hospitals In Romania

Ion Pascu, the Romanian ambassador to Ankara, said at least three large Turkish groups are considering building hospitals in Romania. One such company built an ophthalmology clinic in Bucharest last year, he said.

According to the ambassador, one of the interested companies is the Medicana group, which is in talks with a Bucharest partner to find land for a hospital. Another large group is already present in Romania, having bought land and a building in order to open a cancer treatment center.

The ambassador warned these initiatives might be hampered by the lack of mutual medical diploma recognition by Romania and Turkey. He said the Foreign Ministry has contacted the Health Ministry and Education Ministry, and an agreement is being prepared.
