Leu Trades At 4.2419 Vs Euro, Hits New Record Low Vs Swiss Franc

Romania’s leu recovered slightly against the euro by mid-trade Friday, but the central bank’s reference weakened over 0.4% on the day to 4.2419 units, amid rising aversion to risk after weak economic data in the US and fresh concern over the European debt crisis.

Against the Swiss franc, which investors seek avidly at signs of trouble, the leu fell to a new historic low of 3.913 units. The leu has lost over 14% versus the franc since January, when it traded at 3.4242 units.
