She said the estimated cost for a unit for 20 children is estimated at EUR100,000 net of VAT, and the money would be assigned through the country's national program for infrastructure development.

Udrea said a modular daycare center design project has been approved and wil be used countrywide.

"The project is modular so we can build daycare centers to host 20, 40 or 80 children. A center for 20 children has a reference price of less than EUR100,000, net of VAT," she said.

Udrea added local authorities need to send the Government by January 15 an estimate of how many spots they need in daycare centers, so the Government can establish how many daycare centers need to be built.

"We'll build daycare centers wherever thy are necessary, especially in urban areas," Udrea said, adding capital Bucharest, for instance, will need about 16 daycare centers for 2,000 children aged up to 3.
