Dacia Concept To Be Showcased In Geneva, Web Teasers Real - Sources

Romanian carmaker Dacia, unit of French Renault, will unveil a concept car at the Geneva show in March, derived from the Sandero hatchback, sources with Dacia-Renault plant said Thursday.

“Dacia will present a concept car in Geneva, but I cannot say whether it foreshadows the future Dacia SUV or a different model (…). However, I can confirm that the teaser photos launched on the Internet came from Renault and that they are real,” the mentioned sources said.

On Wednesday, several websites published teaser photos of Dacia’s prototype and suggested the model might be a coupe to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show.

Dacia concept presents features similar to a coupe model, but design details suggest an SUV.

Dacia plans to start production of a new SUV in the second half of the year, to be launched late 2009 or early 2010.
