The federation's legal experts will draw up on September 7-8 the procedure needed to open lawsuit regarding the reorganization of institutions training teaching staff, auxiliary staff and non-teaching staff, national centers for children's education and training, as well we sports clubs countrywide, the press release also reads.

The new organizational charts of these institutions, established on the basis of an order by the Education Ministry, have left jobless non-teaching staff like drivers, secretaries, stokers or janitors.

This week, the federation also announced it would take school inspectorates to court, after an August 24 ministerial order laid off hundreds of non-teaching employees starting with September 1.

According to the federation, the Education Ministry said budget savings entailed sacking hundreds of administrators, stokers, secretaries, drivers, guards and clerks within six days. The federation argues that the savings will be insignificant, given that the 25% wage slash earlier this year triggered lower salaries for these employees, namely an average 600 lei (EUR1=RON4.2796).

Early July, the federation rejected the Government's decision to cut by 25% vacation bonuses for education employees, arguing at the time that it breached all legal provisions of the Labor Code.

Also, the Federation of the National Education (FEN) called on the Government to assign funds for the payment of vacation bonuses for education employees and to take all measures needed to put an end to abuses by local authorities. The federation stressed it received hundreds of complaints from unionists regarding the non-payment of vacation bonuses.
