The unionists said negotiations carried so far with company managers led to no favorable results, and accused the government of neglecting state companies in favor of private ones.
Approximately 1000 CFR workers gathered at the Bucharest main station Bucuresti Nord on Thursday morning to protest against company reorganization plans.
The protesters were on their day off and train schedule was unaffected, union leader Gheorghe Pogea said.
CFR’s restructuring plan includes 12,139 job cuts at all branches. The rail company plans to cut down activity and decommission several subunits, to reduce the number of trains and of technical stations and depots, etc.
