Romania PM Calls For Solidarity In Europe For Roma Social Inclusion

Boc also pointed out that the Government is „highly interested” in Romania’s accession to the Schengen Area, which, he underscored, will ensure free movement for Romanian workers in all European Union member states.

He added Labor Ministry state secretary Valentin Mocanu was tasked with managing the situation of expelled Roma in relation with France. He added that Mocanu is also behind the drafting of the Government’s strategy for Roma inclusion.

Boc made these statements Wednesday, at the Annual Reunion of the Romanian Diplomacy: priorities in 2011. The reunion set off Wednesday, in capital Bucharest, and is attended, besides Prime Minister Boc, by Senate Chairman Mircea Geoana, Romanian ministers and Hungarian Foreign Minister Janos Martoniy.

Romania’s Foreign Affairs Ministry organizes the reunion annually, with a view to draw up a report on its activity in the previous year, analyze Romania’s challenges ahead, and set its targets for the future.
