Romania Registers First AH1N1 Fatality
Romania has registered a first fatality due to the AH1N1 virus, Health Ministry secretary of state Adrian Streinu-Cercel said Monday.

The official said a man in Siret, in the northeastern county of Suceava, bordering Ukraine, has died of the novel flu.
The man, 43, died on November 20 and it was confirmed Monday morning that the cause of death was infection with the H1N1, the health official said.
Streinu-Cercel also said the man had been admitted to a local infectious diseases hospital with moderate symptoms, but the infection worsened as the patient also suffered from obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure.
The man died of respiratory and heart failure in the ambulance, while he was being transferred to the infectious diseases hospital in Iasi, eastern Romania.
His family members have no respiratory symptoms.
Ten H1N1 patients are on life support at the infectious diseases hospital in Iasi, Streinu-Cercel added.
The number of infection cases in Romania is nearing 2,000 but most patients suffered mild forms of the illness so far.
