Asked whether the governing program includes a new law regarding national minorities, Boc said there is no new law, but a normative act regarding national minorities, which takes into account the Constitution and the Venice Commission.

The draft law regarding the statute of national minorities was thumbed down in the Senate and has been arrested in the Chamber of Deputies for the past three years, as lawmakers kept postponing debates on it.

Romania's new Government is formed by a coalition made up of democrat liberals and the Hungarian minority party UDMR, which represents the interests of 1.4 million Hungarians in Romania. Also, for the first time, Romania's proposed culture minister is an ethnic Hungarian, Kelemen Hunor.

The Cabinet list and the governing program have been submitted to Parliament for a confidence vote.
