Romania’s Tourism Ministry To Sack 17% Of Employees – Draft Act

Romania’s Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism will sack 158 of its nearly 900 employees, namely over 17% of its staff, of whom 13 European Affairs advisers, according to a draft government decision drawn up by the ministry.

Currently, the maximum number of positions approved by the ministry reaches 830, excluding high officials and the positions filled by the minister's cabinet members, plus 63 positions for European Affairs advisers.

The draft act aims to restructure and scrap 13 positions for European Affairs advisers, of a total 63, as well as 145 positions of the maximum 830 positions.

Thus, the maximum number of positions will be reduced to 685, excluding high officials and the positions filled by the minister's cabinet members, of which, ten positions, compared to the current 28 positions, for tourism promotion offices abroad.

The number of positions filled by European Affairs advisers will be reduced to 50.
