The Romanian national, aged 63, who was driving a car registered in Slovakia, died on the spot and the other person in the car, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered severe injuries, according to Eva Danko Nagy, spokesperson of the local police department in Nograd.
Nagy also said a 34-year old police officer suffered severe injures following the collision between the two vehicles, adding an investigation is underway.
Snowfall and icy roads jammed traffic across Hungary on Wednesday, which led to many car crashes.
