Romanian Govt , Unions To Discuss Increasing Salaries After July 20 – Union Leader

Romanian union federation “Cartel Alfa” president Bogdan Hossu said Wednesday, after meeting with the prime minister, that talks will be held after July 20 on the possibility of increasing salaries this year according to the economic assessment of the first six months of 2009.

Hossu said the talks with the Government did not touch on the new wage grid, but that they will resume at the Labor Ministry, with the Finance Ministry having until the end of the week to complete its financial evaluation.

According to the union leader, the only way to apply the wage law as soon as possible is for the Government to take responsibility. The law will be a chapter in the National Occupation Pact, signed a few weeks ago in Geneva.

Hossu said worker and employer unions sent the prime minister a letter last week, asking to begin discussions on implementing the Pact in Romania. The prime minister replied that a schedule will be drawn up
