Romanian Integrity Agency Calls On Parliament To Deny Activist’s Access To Secret Files

The integrity agency said earlier this month that Dinescu, who was a dissident under communism and has helped publish files that exposed public figures that had collaborated with the communist secret police, is incompatible with his position in the Council because of his ownership of an agricultural firm.

ANI said in a press release Tuesday the Bucharest Court of Appeals sent the agency a notification stating the document which shows Dinescu incompatible with his position in the Council was not challenged and therefore the decision remained final.

ANI said it will ask the Parliament to start procedures to dismiss Dinescu from CNSAS.

Romania's National Integrity Agency said on February 3 it found Dinescu incompatible with public office because of his ownership of an agricultural firm. The law gives Dinescu 15 days to contest the agency's decision.

Dinescu said last week that CNSAS was considering contesting the decision stating he cannot be a Council member, to avoid rendering null the Council's decisions exposing public figures as former secret police collaborators.
