Romanian liberal vice president Ludovic Orban was elected by the majority of liberal lawmakers as vice president of the Chamber of Deputies to replace Bogdan Olteanu who resigned, liberal lawmaker leader Calin Popescu Tariceanu said Tuesday.

Tariceanu said there were two candidates for the vacant position of vice president of the Chamber, namely Relu Fenechiu and Ludovic Orban, the latter receiving more votes.

Olteanu resigned Tuesday from the position of vice president of the Chamber of Deputies at the beginning of the Standing Office meeting, Dan Motreanu, parliament administrator, told MEDIAFAX.

Now Orban replaces Olteanu who recently became deputy governor of Romania's central bank.
