The military foreman was reported missing on the evening of Jul 10, according to an official statement of the Navy Forces Staff.

The crew members tried, unsuccessfully, to reach him by cell phone. Border police officers had discovered a body on Burgas beach, and the doctor and an officer on board the ship identified the body as foreman Valeriu Toma.

Preliminary investigations show that the military had documents and money on him. The autopsy confirmed that Toma had died of a heart-attack.

The Chief of Staff ordered a commission to investigate the case and repatriate the body to be buried in Romania.

Toma, 42, was married and had a 16 year old daughter.

King Ferdinand frigate is involved between Jul 8-Jul 19 in the "Breeze/Certex 08" exercise, on Bulgarian territory and international waters west of the Black Sea.
