Thirty-seven year-old pilot and sky diver Mugurel Constantin Uta died in the accident. Uta was alone in the plane.

Four fire-fighting crews were dispatched at the scene to put out the fire.

Transport Ministry investigation manager Mircea Ciuca said late Friday the pilot was simulating an engine malfunction during an emergency landing training flight when the plane lost altitude and crashed.

One month ago, the commander of the Clinceni air field, Mihai Dobre Tone, died in a plane accident.
