Romanian PM Nominates Dan Nica For Interim Interior Min

Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc nominated deputy prime minister Dan Nica as interim replacement for Gabriel Oprea, who resigned the position of interior minister after losing political support from the social democrats.

“Prime Minister Emil Boc, based on articles 106 and 107 of the Constitution, sent a proposition to Romanian President Traian Basescu, appointing deputy Prime Minister Dan Nica as interim interior minister, following the resignation of Gabriel Oprea,” the Government said.

Oprea said Tuesday he resigned from the position of minister, adding he will not accept to be a “puppet minister.”

The Prime Minister accepted his resignation.
