Romanian President Congratulates New Ukrainian Counterpart on Election Win

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis sent a message of congratulations for comedy actor Volodymyr Zelensky, who was elected the new president of Ukraine on Sunday by a large margin.

The Romanian head of state expressed his trust that the two countries will further strengthen and diversify their bilateral relations.

“I express my trust that, through dialogue and common actions, we will be able to contribute to the strengthening and diversification of relations between Romania and Ukraine, in support of the territorialy integrity and security of Ukraine, as well as its modernization,” Iohannis wrote in the message, published by the Presidential Administration.

Volodimyr Zelensky won a run-off in the Ukrainian presidential election on with incumbent Petro Poroshenko on Sunday, asresults after 95% of the votes were counted showed that he gained 73% of the votes.
