It seems that social democrats came with the condition that 2008 parliamentary elections be organized together with local ones late May or in June. Sources within the parties said that no decision was taken until now and that the leaders of the two parties will meet to assess the situation.

If Mircea Geoana and Calin Popescu Tariceanu, the heads of the two parties, come to an agreement, the governing issue is to be discussed by the Standing Offices of the two parties.

Social democrat members met Monday evening at a restaurant in Bucharest and discussed on the subject of entering the government in collaboration with the liberals.

However, most social democrats dismissed the idea of supporting the Tariceanu Cabinet and only agreed to enter governing by teaming up with the liberals.
