Students are also displeased that they haven't been consulted with respect to the new education law.

UNSR said in a press release Sunday that it keeps its standpoint with respect to recent measures taken by Education Minister Daniel Funeriu, adding its representatives will protest every day, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., in front of the Education Ministry building and, as of March 17, in several universities countrywide, in a move to defend the rights of students in Romania.

Students are also displeased with the ministry's lack of transparency and communication in the relation with students, the press release also reads.

The National Alliance of Student Organizations in Romania (ANOSR) said Sunday in a press release that its representatives, as well as the representatives of all student organizations, will meet with Education Ministry officials on March 16 to discuss issues targeting the education law and the social aid granted to students (namely, student camps, scholarships, credits), which is meant to stimulate and reward students' outstanding achievements.

Students said they want the country's competent bodies and authorities to be actively involved in the education process, stressing that investments in education are vital for a knowledge-based society.
